Tips on caring for your wicker furniture

Written by Wicker Paradise

Why is wicker furniture so popular? Because they are light and can be used anywhere, indoors or outdoors. It is made from Bamboo, rattan, paper or a reed. Wicker furniture gets its name from the actual weaving technique used. They also happen to last a long time if cared for properly. Here are some tips for regular care of your wicker chairs and furniture:

Daily

When it comes to daily cleaning, give it a thorough cleaning using a cloth or a duster. The daily cleaning component is important, as fine dust particles and moisture can slowly build up over time. Increase or decrease the frequency of the cleaning based on the season and where the furniture is kept.

Weekly

The goal of the weekly clean is to get the grit and dirt from the hard to reach areas. Use a vacuum cleaning with a brush attachment and a long hose. The brush attachment is used to prevent any damage to the material or the coating.

Bi-monthly

This is the only time that any liquid is used during cleaning. Start by making a mild solution of detergent and water. However, only use the suds when cleaning the wicker sofa or other furniture. The cloth should be damp and not wet. In order to get between the crevices, use a small toothbrush. Wipe the furniture dry with a cloth as soon as the cleaning is finished.
